Reflections on Golf Cart Accidents & Memorial Day
The Memorial Day Weekend kicks off a popular time to play a round of golf. Palm Beach County alone is home to about 160 golf courses. But before you grab your clubs, don’t forget about golf cart safety.
NFL legend John Elway’s longtime agent Jeff Sperbeck died on April 30 as a result of a golf cart accident in La Quinta, California. The tragedy occurred when Sperbeck, 62, fell from a moving golf cart. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, before dying from head injuries sustained during the fall. "There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me," Elway said.
Unfortunately, golf cart accidents often include serious injuries, such as fractures and traumatic brain injuries due to being ejected from the cart during a rollover or collision. In golf cart injury cases, several parties could be held responsible, including the golf cart driver, the driver of another golf cart involved in the crash, golf cart owners, property owners, HOAs, or the golf cart manufacturer.
There may be several types of insurance coverage available in a Florida golf cart accident, including homeowners insurance, renters insurance, car insurance, or uninsured motorist coverage. Golf cart accidents may also involve general liability or commercial liability insurance policies at golf courses, private clubs, or other entities where golf carts are operated.
